This 14,000 square foot casino is located in Thunder Bay on the western shores of Lake Superior in north west Ontario. The Thunder Bay Casino is a short stroll from the new Marina Park which offers stunning views of the harbor with the Sleeping Giant on the horizon. The nearest airport – Thunder Bay International Airport – is just 12 kilometers to the south and convenient and swift entry can be made to and from the United States via Highway 61 through the Pigeon River (Thunder Bay) border crossing, which is just 45 minutes away from Thunder Bay. Its closest Canadian city is Winnipeg – eight hours away by car and there is free on-site parking at the casino. There are no passenger trains to Thunder Bay but you can get there by bus – the station for which is located in downtown Thunder Bay about three and a half kilometers south of the casino.
There are a number of hotels close to the casino – the Prince Arthur Hotel and Suites being the nearest. However, although a 15 minute drive away, the Valhalla Inn offers a good Casino Thunder package. The Package includes a $50 gift card to be used in the hotel’s Timbers Restaurant or Runway 25 Steak Lounge (one per room) and a $50 casino voucher – one per room (see hotel website for details).
Thunder Bay Casino has over 450 slot machines as well as 14 table games including Blackjack, Caribbean Stud Poker, Four Card Poker, Texas Hold ’em Poker, Roulette, Lucky Ladies Blackjack and more. The Mighty Millionaire themed games have proved popular with players, not least because – as the name suggests – there is a chance to win a million dollars. The Poker Room offers a mix of cash games and tournaments. The casino has a loyalty program, Winner’s Circle Rewards, with three membership levels based on the amount and type of slots played. For those in need of refueling, non-alcoholic beverages are served free of charge while the Getaway Restaurant has a good range of snacks and meals.
