The Stoney Nakoda Resort and Casino has a 70,000 square foot casino with stunning views of the majestic Canadian Rocky Mountains. It is located in Morley which is a First Nations settlement in southern Alberta. Located at the entrance to Kananaskis Country at the junction of Highway 40 and the Trans Canada Highway, Stoney Nakoda Resort & Casino is only a 50 minute drive west of Calgary International Airport and 30 minutes east of Banff National Park. Discounted airport shuttle transportation is available through the Western Limousine Service. The casino provides a complimentary shuttle service to and from Banff and Canmore on Fridays and Saturdays. Reservations are not required – see website for details. The Stoney Nakoda Resort’s hotel has 111 rooms with three different room types. They offer a Stay and Play Package which includes $40 in casino chips. Other hotels within the area include Days Inn and Suites, Rafter Six Ranch Resort and Rocky View Hotel.
The Stoney Nakoda Resort and Casino features 299 Slot Machines, 15 gaming tables including Blackjack, Three Card Poker, Roulette, Extreme 21 and Baccarat. Its Poker Room, which features weekly tournaments, but is closed from Monday to Wednesday. There is a complimentary tea and coffee service for players, which is very welcome. Located near the entrance of the Stoney Nakoda Resort and Casino is the Teepee Village which gives the Stoney Nakoda people a place to honor their past, to allow for the community’s cultural ceremonies and promote educational opportunities for their children. These Teepees have been hand painted by Stoney First Nations people and the designs created are of nature and the land. The Teepee Village allows visitors the opportunity to experience and learn more about the Stoney Nation people, culture and traditions.
